Descripion:
Natural black basalt gravel specifically sized for the renovation of pebble dashing (harling) and for exposed aggregate concrete surfaces.
This product potentially contains small amounts of iron minerals which may rust when used as a dashing.

Coverage Coverage will depend on the skill of the applicator, the density of cover required and wastage during application. As a guide application rates in the order of of 5kg per sqm may be expected. ie a 15kg pack may be expected to cover approximately 3sqm.

Harling or Pebble Dashing: Is a Scottish term describing the technique of providing a decorative waterproof render. The technique has also been adopted in other parts of the UK where it is known as Pebble or Dry Dashing.
Traditionally utilising lime mortar, but more recently cement mortars have been used to provide a base coat. Stone chippings, pebbles and even shells are then broadcast onto the surface and lightly pressed in to provide a decorative and durable weatherproof surface.
The technique has been used on buildings form modest sea-side cottages to famous buildings including the Great Hall in Stirling Castle.

Concrete Batching:
The product can be used for exposed decorative concrete mixes. As a direct replacement for builders gravel. When used for exposed polished flooring and worktops the quantity of granite will depend on the desired aesthetics and mix design.
Whilst being durable, concretes made with granite will require more work than marble or limestone aggregates to produce a polished finish. However, exposed (brushed) finishes often refered to as "grano" will have good anti-skid properties

This product option is supplied packed in safe and easy to handle weatherproof packs stacked on a wooden pallet. Packs are stretch wrapped onto the pallet for added protection and security.

Pallets are delivered by national couriers and off-loaded onto a level hard-standing using vehicle tail-lift and pallet truck. Our couriers do not offer a crane (Hiab) off-load facility.

Pallet deliveries by national couriers are not advised for locations with narrow or difficult access. Please advise during checkout or contact our office for advice if you have specific delivery requirements or concerns.

Failed deliveries due to problems with access which as not been pre-notified will be returned to our warehouse and charged for both outward and return delivery,

The immediate product wrapping, pallet stretch wrap and wooden pallet can all be recycled.
