Natural dust free, dry, fine sand filler. Satisfying requirements to model analogue concrete with exacting detail at a range of scales.
Designed, Developed and Manufactured in the UK.
Primary Colour and Source: Natural coloured rounded river sand.
Actual Grain Size: 0.1-0.35mm
High Fidelity Analogue at O and G Gauge to real life cement render and mortar sand. At OO/HO scale provides for high fidelity concrete aggregate. BS EN 12620 Aggregates for concrete, the principal standard for specifying sand and gravel for ready-mixed concrete.
Originators Note: Sand for concrete is normally graded from zero to 5mm size. Hence, at scales of 1:76 and above our filler sand is necessarily a compromise, it is graded to provide a granular visual impression but this creates a material that is larger in grain size than a true sand analogue..
Our filler sand does, however, provide for a high fidelity concrete gravel analogue at OO/HO Scale.
Pack size: 4kg (Approximately 2500cm
3 pack will cover approximately 4 Sqm at scatter thickness
Description:
Unique fluidised bed drying method allows for accurate control of moisture content and efficient removal of dust.
Our inert sand is the ultimate micro-granular filler for resin, gypsum and cement based systems, it also provides for realism as a modelling sand analogue in its own right.
A unique fluidised bed drying method allows for ultimate control of moisture content and efficient removal of dust.
Using Model Railway Nomenclature, Applications for Inert Filler Sand Include:
Real life examples rounded to nearest actual quarried sizes.
Z Scale (1:220): Real life 20 to 75mm coarse gravel - River bed and coarse shoreline gravels - abandoned quarry faces and stockpiles.
N Scale (1:148): Real life 15-50mm gravel. Approximates to track ballast at this scale, however. more pleasing granite options are available within our range. Use as a small gravel for river bed and shoreline gravel
TT Scale (1:120): Real life 12- 40mm gravel
Gravel scree and open heathland - Urban Apocalypse. The perfect light coloured disaster analogue for wargame shell hole and bomb crater scaping.
OO/HO Scale (1:76): Real Life 8-25mm - High fidelity analogue for concrete aggregate.
In real life both the old British Standard and more recent European Standards call for sand & gravel for concrete that is clean and free from organic residues just like our inert sand only in miniature !
Use at OO/HO scale as analogue Concrete Aggregate. In the real world the largest single application for aggregates. Our inert sand can be bound with cement, but does not provide for great strength in thin sections. Epoxy and polyurethane resins or PVA glue substantially increase strength, or use as a dust free filler/extender in Jesmonite® .
Our inert sand makes for perfectly scaled wagon fill and depot stockpiles.
O Scale (1:43): 4-15mm Concrete Aggregate. As with OO/HO scale use as a fine concrete aggregate analogue especially within Jesmonite® and resin systems.
Ideal for quarry-scapes and stockpiles. A complete background for film and image beach and river scenics.
G Scale (1:22): 2-6mm Sharp concrete sand. Use as a clean fine texture mortar and render sand. Introduce as a clean filler into Jesmonite® to create white architectural concrete, or mix into Jesmonite with additional cement powder to create ultra-realistic analogue grey concrete.
Colour & Form:
We take great care to provide accurate images, however, shade variations can occur both with the products themselves and with ambient lighting.
When used for modelling, perceived variance to colour and reflectance can occur due to base materials and adhesives used.
It can be difficult to adequately describe and visualise grain size, we do, however, show products in context with additional images.
