Description:
This is the genuine and original LECA^®LWA distributed prepacked in the UK by Specialist Aggregates.
Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregates or LECA^®LWA are granules of fired clay, used in construction and horticulture.

LECA^®LWA is made by pelletising and firing selected clay in a rotary kiln at a very high temperature. As it is fired, the organic compounds in the clay vaporise forcing the pellets to expand and become honeycombed while the outside surface of each granule fuses to give a ceramic shell. The resulting granules are lightweight, and have good resistance to crushing.

Being a natural product LECA^®LWA contains no harmful substances, it is inert with neutral pH. The granules are resistant to frost and chemicals, and will not break down in water. They are also non-combustible and have excellent sound and thermal insulation properties.

Applications:

Horticulture
Expanded clay pellets are pH neutral, and are porous, yet have the ability to store water. The gaps between the pellets provide good aeration for root systems.

By virtue of being lighter than normal aggregates clay granules are easier to transport and handle and are frequently used by sports and recreation contractors for drainage and back-filling to natural stone walls and concrete structures.

Expanded clay pellets are used as a substrate in hydroculture / hydroponics, and blended with other growing media to improve drainage and insulate roots from frost. They can also be spread as a top dressing (mulch) around plants to retain moisture and help prevent weed growth.

Filtration and purification of wastewater and water for fish farms.

Insulation especially under flooring on roofs in particular for "Green Roofing Systems".

Heat proofing in kilns, stoves and pizza ovens.

Lightweight Concrete: As a component in non-structural lightweight concrete mix suitable for fake rocks, theatre props, and lightweight repairs.

The product is held as a stock item and generally will be delivered within 3-4 days of order.

This product option is supplied packed in safe and easy to handle weatherproof packs stacked on a wooden pallet. Packs are stretch wrapped onto the pallet for added protection and security. For quantities of less than 12 packs see our discounted single pack courier delivery option.

Pallets are delivered by national couriers and off-loaded onto a level hard-standing using vehicle tail-lift and pallet truck. Our couriers do not offer a crane (Hiab) off-load facility.

Pallet deliveries by national couriers are not advised for locations with narrow or difficult access. Please advise during checkout or contact our office for advice if you have specific delivery requirements or concerns.

Failed deliveries due to problems with access which as not been pre-notified will be returned to our warehouse and charged for both outward and return delivery,

The immediate product wrapping, pallet stretch wrap and wooden pallet can all be recycled.
