Description & Application:
Pumice is a light weight bubbly volcanic glass - essentially a "solid rock foam". Deposits of pumice occur throughout the world with notable deposits on Iceland and the Italian island of Lipari.

Pumice in Horticulture:
Pumice is a 100% natural product with micro bubble pores that trap moisture, nutrients and minerals.
The use of pumice greatly enhances soil structure for cacti and succulents as it retains moisture, allowing for less frequent watering and provides for aeration where it is needed at the root zone.

Applications for this product also include the production of lightweight concrete, and building blocks where it is especially useful for the creation of film and theatre sets.

Our clients have used pumice as pebbles in the public domain in interior and exterior landscaping where the weight of natural pebbles would not be acceptable.

Once dried pumice absorbs colour pigments and fragrance very well and is frequently used in pot pourri mixes.
