Description & Application:

Pebble Dashing - Harling
Natural Perma Frost White Quartz with Red Granite and Volcanic Black Chippings specifically sized for the renovation of pebble dashing (harling) and for exposed aggregate concrete.

Historically the proportion of black, red and white within the mix will vary. Hence this renovation pack is supplied as a 5kg pack of black, 5kg pack of red and 5kg pack of white chippings in order that a suitable mix can be established on site.

This product potentially contains small amounts of iron minerals which may cause staining when used as a dashing.

Coverage will depend on the skill of the applicator, the density of cover required and wastage during application. As a guide application rates in the order of of 5kg per sqm may be expected. ie a 15kg pack could be expected to cover up to 3sqm.

Product Imaging:
Clean gravel for product imaging and promotions. The semi opaque form of the white chippings provides the opportunity to highlight both applied light and base colours.

The red chippings provide a matt terracotta form when dry and a strong terracotta colour when wet. The black chippings show a dark grey colour when dry and a strong black hue when wet. Product may require to be washed with clean water before use to remove loose dust.

Decorative Plant Topping:
Striking red, black and white chippings for both internal and external plant topping. Especially effective with cacti and succulents.

When used externally the combination of Perma-Frost White, Red Granite, and Volcanic Black chippings provides for a striking plant mulch and product ideally suited to edging of decked areas.

The low water absorption of all the components prevents algal and moss growth and the white spar lightens shady areas.

When used as a decorative mulch coverage of 0.7m² at 15mm thickness may be expected from a 15kg pack.

Historical Note: Harling
Harling is a Scottish term describing the technique of providing a decorative waterproof render. The technique has also been adopted in other parts of the UK and is known as Pebble or Dry Dashing.

Traditionally the technique used lime mortar, but more recently cement mortars have been used to provide a provide a base course on which to stick the chippings.

Stone chippings, pebbles and even shells are then broadcast onto the surface and lightly pressed in to provide a durable weatherproof surface.

Colour:
We take great care to provide accurate images, however, shade variations can occur with natural sands, gravels and crushed rock aggregates. Please ask for samples if colour is critical to your application.
